Open Letter

To Whom It May Concern,

For those that attended the speech this afternoon, I apologize. The subject matter was supposed to be about economics and frugality. It became apparent that the speaker had his own agenda. If you're new to Students for Liberty and are unsure of what we're about, I would like to clarify a few things. We're comprised of members with varying religious, spiritual and philosophical beliefs; however, the subject of spirituality isn't one that our group delves into or approaches. That's a personal topic that can be debated outside of our meetings. Students for Liberty is a group centering around the belief in economic and personal liberties obtained through self-sufficiency, limited government, free trade and the protection of civil liberties. We believe that this philosophy is universal and encompasses all economic brackets, religious beliefs, age groups, genders and sexual orientations.

We apologize if that the speaker this afternoon misrepresented our ideals and will make efforts in the future to ensure that this problem isn't repeated. As this semester is coming to a close soon, SFL will be holding a few more meetings (which we'll send out e-mails informing everyone of) regarding the direction that the group will be moving in during the Summer and in future semesters. We have a lot of ideas rolling around and would appreciate everyone's input and participation. Thank you very much! [Addendum: I would still like to thank Mr. Claerbout on behalf of Students for Liberty for taking the time out to speak. Although the presentation of our ideals differ, his effort and interest was still appreciated.]

-Christopher
